18k White Gold Wedding Ring Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, a 18k white gold wedding ring can be resized, unless the ring has diamonds or stones around the whole band. Wedding rings are to be worn everyday and therefore should be a perfect fit - if it isn’t you can resize the ring a few sizes bigger and smaller.

When getting a 18k white gold ring resized it is important to choose a reputable jeweller as a poor resize job can ruin the look and value of your wedding ring.

If you're looking to find the perfect fit for your wedding ring use our ring size conversion chart, on our ring sizing guide.

When not being worn, we recommend storing your 18k white gold wedding ring in the original box or soft cloth bag. To clean your ring, use a solution of warm water and detergent free soap and a soft bristled brush. Once dry, to polish your jewellery use a special jewellery polishing cloth and or a jewellery cleaning solution. Remove your jewellery when doing any manual tasks using your hands, for example, lifting weights, exercising and diy tasks etc.

A 18k white gold wedding ring is a good choice for a wedding ring as it is beautiful and elegant. However, unlike other types of metals, white gold requires more care to prevent the white rhodium top layer wearing off. With a white gold wedding ring, you may find that you need to get the rhodium plating refinished every couple of years (or sooner if you do wear it everyday). Platinum may be an alternative choice if you are looking for a more durable but still lovely and elegant wedding ring.

Both metals are a good choice, however 18k white gold is slightly weaker than platinum. Both types of metals will require care and consideration to keep them looking great but due to 18k white gold being softer than platinum it will require more regular upkeep to keep it looking great.
